Nollywood actress Etinosa Idemudia has blamed some parents for contributing to the behavioural problems and violence seen in society, warning against extreme forms of physical punishment that could negatively affect children’s future.
The actress said she does not support gentle parenting but stressed that some forms of excessive beating are unnecessary, traumatic and damaging to a child’s development.
She described her message as a wake-up call to a new generation of parents, urging mothers and fathers to adopt better approaches to raising their children.
“I do not support gentle parenting, but there are some extreme beatings that are unnecessary, trauma-inducing and damaging to a child’s future,” she said.
Etinosa urged parents to do better in raising their children, stressing that the way children are disciplined can have lasting consequences.
“This is a wake-up call to the new generation of mothers and fathers. We can do better.
“By God’s grace,” she added.
